Here is a list of the best movies that released in the year 2008:
• The wrestler: This movie makes you feel the pain of the main protagonist Darren Aronofsky’s; no movie gives you this feeling. It has low budget camera work and it makes you feel like the former superstar who is struggling to know his identity to rescue himself from an event that could change his life completely. Every moment is very authentic and is perfectly shot in the camera, looks like the story is flirting with the subplots. The actor Rourkela looks like he has lived his character’s body for years. Although, Robinson looks like a decent person, he is a charmer called “The Ram”. It doesn’t look like he is acting, it all looks very real.
• Synecdoche, New York: A movie that frustrated many and a few found it an expressionistic and exhilarating movie. The movie looks like intimate snapshots of a director who is frustrated and sees life as a story evolving constantly. The story is about a person whose soul is deeply examined and takes us into the ugliest and scariest recesses of his mind.
• The dark night: Heath ledger has re-invented the exciting character of the joker, Gary Old man and Aaron Eckhart make us feel that is not just a batman movie, it’s a piece that’s ensemble. This time again Nolan has proved himself mature and a world class filmmaker by exploring the fine lines concerning security and fascism in such a good entertainment fashion, he has weaved multiple themes and storylines into one film, something that’s not easy.
• Let the right one in: Let the right one in is a composition of Swedish significance that is just stunning. A movie where the vampire that’s not portrayed sexy but rather a pathetic freak of nature who is ashamed of his own existence. Pictures in the lonely and dejected suburbs of Stockholm in 1982.Thomas Alfredson’s movie is high for the genre and can be highly compared to “martin” George Romero’s ultra realistic legend movie. The director of this movie shows us the images of snow-covered landscapes and buildings that stay onscreen to burn the brain.
• The Man on wire: This movie is regarded as the best documentary movie of the year and is quite similar Slumdog Millionaire. It’s a suspense thriller; it is a portrait of a man. The story about a break-in that impossible and a gutsy act performed by French tight-rope walker and his friends. The character is obsessive. The story of a man who is dancing on an extremely thin line in-between the two towers of the world trade centre. Therefore this movie is one of the most riveting films.
• Slumdog millionaire: This movie is a sociopolitical, multi genre, kinetic fairy tale of British director Danny Boyle. It’s the story of a chai walla in search for his list love. He finds a contest called “who wants to be a millionaire” as a device to find his love. The film has lot of memorable shots in Mumbai and is also one of the main reasons for its success.
• The fall: Young Romanian actress Catinca Untaru overshadows the startling images of the movie with reactions that are so unaffected. The movie was filmed in twenty three countries for four years. The director has created an exclusively in camera look which has payed off well. It feels like it is actually there. It feels like everything is happening in front of our eyes.
• Wall E: Having a cinematographer like Roger Deakins work as an advisor on Pixar’s latest. The first half of the movie is the expertly rendered. It an animated robotic movie. The second half is big sci-fi about the possible fate of the world.
• The visitor: the story of a widowed university professor who finds a squatter in his New York City apartment. The acting is bad and inappropriate martyrdom.
• The speed racer: One of the most creative movies this year. Fourteen houses worked together to generate a new type of “layered fantasy” Rather than depicting reality, nothing seen on screen exists in real life. The movie very long, but a good experiment, nothing else is as refreshing.
